A Catholic elementary school is closing its doors permanently.
The Diocese of Corpus Christi Office of Catholic Schools announced that it is closing St. Gertrude the Great Catholic School at the end of this school term. The diocese cited “changing demographics, declining enrollment, and growing financial challenges” as contributing factors to the decision to close the school.
In a press release, the Office of Catholic Schools said it will be working with each family
to retain the current 60 students from St. Gertrude in our Catholic schools. Representatives and
administrators from the nearest Catholic School, St. Anthony in Robstown, will schedule tours, conduct registration and meet with parents and families.
