A body was found today during the search for Brandon Rios, the local teenager who was last seen by his mother on Friday morning.

This week law enforcement officers and first responders have been searching large areas near Oso Bay.

After nearly a week of searching for the 18-year-old Rios, several agencies continued their efforts early Thursday morning.

CCPD, along with Border Patrol K-Units searched an area along Oso Parkway less than half a mile from Brandon’s home.

Around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, the grim discovery of a body came about.

That body was found in an area with heavy brush, about 200 yards from Oso Parkway.

Police recovered the body and medical examiners are doing their due diligence.

Police are grateful for help from the community, as well as partnering agencies.

“The Corpus Christi Police Department works well with all of our fellow agencies, so that’s been invaluable,” Lt. Michael Pena of the CCPD said.

Teri Rios, mother of Brandon, gave KRIS 6 News a written statement late this afternoon. She thanked the community for endless support and more than half a dozen agencies as well as the local media for the efforts in the search for her missing son.

Chaplains with the Corpus Christi Police Department will be assisting Brandon Rios’ family in the coming days.

The family asks for privacy during this difficult time.
