Some local elementary students now have a new tool to help deal with bullying.

The Bullyproof Project is now in its second year at four elementary schools in  Corpus Chrsiti: Crockett, Metro E, Oak Park and Zavala.

CCISD Police Sgt. Jannelle Cantu started the program and says it spreads a message of respect.

Cantu says the goal of the program is to stop bullying at a young age.

“I created it to give them some tools to use when they are going through life in order to help them make good decisions,” Cantu said. “Things they might encounter during life, and not only in school or school settings.”

The Bullyproof Project helps students recognize bullying and teaches them how to handle difficult situations.

Cantu says she hopes the Bullyproof Project is eventually adopted at all elementary schools in CCISD.
