The National Adult Daycare Inc. in Corpus Christi is a facility for adults with both mental and health disabilities.

This February some members are trading in their wheelchairs for musical chairs

Most of the adults are here because their families work during the day so an adult day care is a place they can enjoy activities like a Valentine’s Day dance.

Tomorrow, owner Mary Lou George says she’s hosting a Valentine-themed dance to spice up their routine.

“It’s really a lot of fun because the clients are waiting in anticipation to see what we’re going to do and what kind of crafts we’re going to do,” said George.

There’ll also be the crowning of the dance’s king and queen, and other titles as well.

“Like Miss Congeniality and Mr. Congeniality,” said George.

George says she hosts activities like this to help the adults who need to stay socialized in order to keep their mental health at positive levels.

“It’s kind of like when you were in school they don’t have that opportunity anymore,” said George.

However, some of the members are looking forward to other things besides dancing.

“Hopefully they have valentine cake,” said one of the members.

The adult day care helps any adult with disabilities that qualify for United Healthcare Services or Superior Healthcare. And the services are free of charge.
