Correction 9:50 p.m. January 16, 2019:  Corpus Christi Police believe the woman driving the car hit by a truck was under the influence of a substance.  Police are waiting for test results.
Title of the story changed.

The medical examiner has identified the man who passed as 26-year-old Domingo Rivera.

New details have emerged in the fatal accident that claimed a man’s life Tuesday night.

The 28-year-old woman who was driving the not-at-fault passenger car was driving under the influence with the children in the car, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department. The passenger of that car,  26-year-old Domingo Rivera, was killed in the accident. The two children were taken to the hospital in critical condition. One child is said to now be stable.

The accident happened at the intersection of Baldwin Boulevard and Staples Street just after 7 p.m.

The driver of a truck was turning left from Staples onto Baldwin, and failed to yield to the passenger car, according to officers with the CCPD. The driver of the truck was cited and released to the hospital for a follow-up.

The intoxicated woman who was driving the car suffered serious injuries but has since been updated to stable condition. Officials with the Corpus Christi Police Department say she is facing charges of driving while intoxicated with a child, a state jail felony.

No other details were immediately available.

Note: The public information officer with the Corpus Christi Police Department told media on scene that the driver of the passenger car was deceased, but the department has since updated that information to show it was the passenger who died, not the driver.
