“This year, our schedule features only two home games in December, so we plan to make them extra special for our fans.” said IceRays General Manager Michael Wood. “We wanted to kick things off with special holiday pricing that will fit into families’ budgets during this busy time.”

Special features of Saturday’s game start early with a pre-game public skate. The session will last from 1-4 PM, costs $12 (including skate rental) and is open to all skill levels, including those who have never before put on a pair of skates. Included with the cost of admission, skaters will receive a ticket to that night’s IceRays game.

The Dec. 8 game will also feature the IceRays’ Teddy Bear Toss. All fans are invited to bring new teddy bears and/or stuffed animals to the game. When the IceRays score their first goal of the game, fans are encouraged to throw the teddy bears onto the ice in celebration. The bears will be collected by the IceRays and SMG staff and donated to multiple organizations within the Coastal Bend community. Fans participating in the Teddy Bear Toss can show their teddy bears or plush toys at the IceRays table in the arena concourse and be registered to win a suite for a future IceRays game.

“The Teddy Bear toss is a great hockey holiday tradition,” said IceRays Assistant General Manager Cassidy Lange. “It’s been a few years since we’ve done one in Corpus Christi and we look forward to seeing lots of Teddy Bears raining out of the stands on that first IceRays goal.”

Lastly, fans are encouraged to wear their worst, as the game will feature an ugly Christmas sweater contest. The winner will receive the admiration of all their friends as well as a special IceRays swag bag.
