Gibson Elementary held a special event for veterans today.
Kids of all grade levels sang songs, read poetry and danced as part of the school’s 13th annual Veterans Day celebration.
Special guests included members of the Naval Health Clinic, Corpus Christi Guard, and the Patriot Guard of South Texas. The students not only performed, but they also learned about the sacrifices that all veterans have made for our country.
“We believe that our students should learn what scarifies our veterans have made, and things that go on that they are not aware of,” said Joel Gonzales, Assistant Principal at Gibson Elementary. “We want our students to learn every year, we want to set across a special day to honor our veterans, so that our students realize the freedoms they have that we shouldn’t take for granted.”
Area Veterans are invited to attend the celebration every year on Veterans Day.
