Rockport Country Club Teed of the Hurricane Recovery Golf Tournament today.
Several restaurants had to close their doors because their buildings were badly damaged because of Hurricane Harvey. Mission Restaurant Supply and the Coastal Bend Restaurant Associated hosted the tournament, and now restaurants in Rockport, Port Aransas, and Aransas Pass will receive the help that they need to rebuild with money raised.
The tournament was supposed to take place last month, but due to rain and bad weather the event was postponed until today, but there were no complaints.
“Today it turned out that the weather is great, we have a pretty good turn out and I’m pretty excited that people are out here participating and it really just shows that people from around the community are out here to support these restaurants.” Said Matthew Deshields, president of the Coastal Bend Restaurant Association.
There has not been a definitive announcement of when the money raised will be distributed to the restaurants, but Deshields is hopeful it will be at the beginning of 2019.
