No matter how young or old you might be, everybody loves Halloween.
Bill Langley is a 75-year-old, retired engineer and still remembers the days he used to trick or treat.
“When I was a kid, every kid on the block was out with a brown paper sack. We didn’t have fancy sacks or anything it was brown paper sacks,” Langley said.
Today the Visiting Angels are helping Langley and his wife decorate their home so they can take part and enjoy Halloween.
“We can offer them security and help them participate in the fun holiday. We can help them set up decorations, and help hand out candy so they can be a part of the holiday,”said Susan Kerr from Visiting Angels.
Holidays are special for everyone, including seniors, and thank goodness for Visiting Angels, who come here to the Langley’s house and help them putting up their Halloween decorations.
Do you know a senior who may need your help? It just may make their day.
“The Visiting Angels are great, I don’t know what I would do without the Visiting Angels,” said Langley.
So, this Halloween I challenge you to be someone’s Visiting Angel.
You may hire Visiting Angels to help you with your Halloween. Their local office number is 361-854-2800.
If you are a senior and planing to give out candy, Visiting Angels recommends:
- Never leave a senior alone to hand out candy
- Keep guests outside
- Turn on interior and exterior lights during trick-or-treating hours
- Stay inside while handing out candy
- Post a sign that says, “Sorry, No More Candy” when the goodies run out
