Former fire chief heading to prison in child sex case

A former fire chief has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for having sex with a 12-year old girl

Felipe Garza took a plea deal this afternoon. Garza pleaded guilty to continuous sexual assault of a child charges. In exchange for his plea, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison without a chance to make parole.

Felipe Garza took a plea deal and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Garza is the former chief of the Driscoll Volunteer Fire Department.

He was arrested in May 2016 after investigators found he and the girl exchanged more than 28,000 text messages and 350 pictures over five months.

The 12 year old eventually admitted she and Garza had sex during that time.
