Nueces County Commissioners vote on plan to name new sheriff

The Nueces County Commissioners have outlined a plan to name a new sheriff.

Last month, Nueces County Sheriff Jim Kaelin announced he would retire on October 31.

During this morning’s Nueces County Commissioners Court meeting, they announced those interested in applying can submit a letter of interest with a resume to the county’s human resources department by October 11 by 5 p.m.

County Commissioners will interview the top five candidates during their next meeting on Wednesday, October 17. They will be interviewed publicly.

Those interested in applying can submit their paperwork beginning today to the Nueces County Human Resources Department, 901 Leopard, Suite 302.02, Corpus Christi, Texas 78401. Submissions may be made by email to Paula.Hernandez@nuecesco.com

Applicant must be a United States Citizen, a resident of Texas for 12 months, a resident of Nueces County for 6 months, registered to vote in Nueces County, and at least 18 years of age.
