A local man accused of killing an elderly woman in a Flour Bluff parking lot has pleaded guilty.

In a court appearance this afternoon, 35-year-old Cody Callison, of Alice, pleaded guilty to intoxication man slaughter and as sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In September 2017, Callison ran over 74-year-old Cordie Gilmore in the parking lot of a Flour Bluff Wal-Mart.

“We’ve been waiting a long time,” said Nancy Watson, Gilmore’s sister. “I did not agree with the 20 years. We thought he should have gotten longer. He knew what he was doing.”

This incident wasn’t Callison’s first run-in with the law. He pleaded guilty to DWI charges in 2003 and 2004. He was convicted of a third DWI in 2013 and was sentenced to two years in prison.
