Neighbors at Sea Breeze Senior Apartments are speaking out after they say break-ins have taken place in their community.

Nelva Guzman has been living in the complex for three years. She says the spacious community, charming Apartments and security is what attracted her to live there.

“They advertise that it’s a Senior community and that it’s a gated community,” says resident Nelva Guzman.

Lately the sense of security has gone away.

“About two to three months that all the break-ins and cars,” says neighbor Silvia Martinez.

Neighbor Silvia Martinez says a resident was attacked a few months ago, and recently, Guzman fell victim.

“It was at 1:30 in the morning,” says Guzman.

Guzman says a man broke into her home on August 12.

The noise woke her up.

“I was right here and when he kicked it, it hit my mouth,” says Guzman.

She says the intruder grabbed her but left after learning police where on their way. Leaving her with a broken door.

“The door frame was completely torn off,” says Guzman.

Two weeks later, her door is patched, but management has not replaced it.

Guzman does not feel safe.

“I’ll go to sleep thinking about it,”says Guzman. “You know, what if it happens again.”

The neighbors have written reports, but say nothing has been done to increase security.

“We’re seniors and we’re the ones that should be taken care of,” says Guzman.
