Cheese kept in a trash bag, food on the floor and meat not thawed properly are just a few of the violations health inspectors found in the lowest scoring restaurant.

Topping Thursday’s edition of the Kitchen Cops with a perfect score is Island Italian Restaurant located at 15370 South Padre Island Drive.

Jefe’s Mobile Café located at 1113 12th street scored a 100.

Scoopz Frozen Yogurt located at 5425 South Padre Island Drive scored a 100.

Earning a spot on the A-list with a 99 is Surfside Sandwich Shoppe located at 15113 South Padre Island Drive.

Butterkrust Discount Bakery Store located at 3717 Saratoga scored a 99.

Brooklyn Pie Co. located at 15326 South Padre Island Drive scored a 98.

Laguna Reef Restaurant located at 4242 Laguna Shores scored a 98.

Sno Ball Too located at 7114 Saratoga scored a 98.

McDonald’s located at 5560 South Padre Island Drive scored a 97.

Edible Designs located at 4535 South Padre Island Drive scored a 97.

Hermanos Solis Mexican Restaurant located at 3514 Baldwin scored a 96.

Salty Oak BBQ located at 4301 Alameda scored a 94.

Taqueria Jalisco located at 2433 Cimarron scored a 93.

Snapka’s Drive Inn located at 4432 Weber scored a 91.

Dropping down to the B-list with an 89 is Z Counter located at 1220 Airline.

Violations included food stores on the floor, food was not labeled, towels were in hand washing sink, employees were not beard guards, an employee was wearing a watch, wiping clothes were not stored properly, meat was not thawed properly and the back door sweep needs to be repaired.

Linda’s Mexican Restaurant located at 4033 Gollihar scored an 87.

Health inspectors found onions and boxes of meat on the floor, pans of tomatoes were stored on top of uncovered food containers, cheese was stored in trash bags, chopped veggies were stored in cardboard boxes and employees were wiping their hands on an apron instead of washing them.

Other violations include the ice machine and walk in cooler not working properly, employee drinking cups needed lids, employees were wearing jewelry, employees not wearing beard guards, wiping towels were not stored properly, meat was not thawed properly, bowls were used to dispense cooked food, ice scoops were not stored properly and there was grease build up behind equipment.
