The restaurants at the Texas State Aquarium earned top marks in Tuesday’s edition of the Kitchen Cops.The Café Aqua, Shoreline Grill, Snack Snack, Mini Melts #1, Mini Melts #2 and the Splash Push Cart #1 all scored a 100.Earning a spot on the A-list with a 99 is Tastea located at 5634 Mcardle.Los Altos Mexican Restaurant located at 3310 Port scored a 99.Smoothie King located at 5366 Mcardle scored a 98.Agave Bar & Grill located at 109 Morning Glory scored a 98.Blimpies located at 300 Shoreline scored a 97.Restaurant 361 #2 located at 6317 State Highway 361 scored a 96.K-Bob’s Steakhouse located at 14526 Northwest Boulevard scored a 95.Pho D’Noodle House located at 3403 South Padre Island Drive scored a 94.Gates Donut Shop located at 4417 Alameda scored a 93.Cheddars Casual Café located at 5855 South Padre Island Drive scored a 91.Drunkn’ Noodlez Asian Restaurant located at 4214 Alameda scored a 90.Dropping down to the B-list with an 89 is Aka Sushi located at 5301 Everhart.Violations included all corrosion and torn areas on ceiling need to be repaired, corrosion on grill shelves needs to be cleaned, toxic items were near clean utensils and thermometer were not working properly.Moby Dicks Restaurant located at 517 Alister scored an 89.Health inspectors found products on the main line cooler kept at the wrong temperature, tong handles were not stored properly, chemical spray bottles were on top of the ice machine, employees were not wearing beard guards, employee drinking cups needed lids, employees were wearing jewelry and nail polish and wiping towels were not stored properly.Taqueria San Juan located at 410 Cut Off Road scored an 85.The restaurant lost points because raw meat was stored above vegetables, a dirty can opener, spray bottles were not labeled, there were home pesticides, left over food was not labeled, flies, employee cups needed lids, employees were wearing jewelry, wiping towels were not stored properly and bowls were used to dispense dry goods.Earning a spot on the C-list with a 79 is Saenz Meat Market located at 4337 Kostoryz.Violations included food left uncovered, spray bottles were not labeled, no hand wash station in the back kitchen area, no food manager on duty, employees did not have food cards, no thermometer, a slicer stored in the hand washing sink, flies, employees not wearing beard guards, need utensil with handle to portion pico de gallo and a gap underneath the back door needs to be repaired.
