Thursday, Governor Greg Abbott discussed the flu season as Texas and the country continues to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following the discussion with state legislators, medical experts, and state agency leaders, the Governor held a press conference to update Texan's on what was discussed.
The conference centered around the importance of flu vaccines and preventing the spread of both COVID-19 and the flu in Texas. Abbott said that the approach to combat both deadly viruses will be parallel and simultaneous.
They also stressed the importance of following the CDC's guidelines on both the flu and COVID-19.
Abbott was joined by Texas Department of State Health Services Commissioner John Hellerstedt, MD, Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd, UT System Executive Vice Chancellor of Health Affairs John Zerwas, MD, UT Southwestern Medical Center President Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky.
