Toyota has released details of its plans to make face shields to help workers who are leading treatment in the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement, Toyota Motor North America has announced that while its North American plants are paused from building automobiles, some of its facilities will begin to manufacture face shields. Others will begin constructing respirators, ventilators and other medical devices.

"We are eager to contribute our expertise and know-how in order to help quickly bring to market the medical supplies and equipment needed to combat the COVID crisis," said Ted Ogawa, Toyota's incoming CEO. "Our message to the medical equipment community is we are here to help. Please utilize our expertise."

The release states that UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, MD Anderson Hospital in Houston and other hospitals in Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan will be among the first in the nation to get the face shields from Toyota.
