8/2 updates:
5:15 p.m.- Downtown Corpus Christi is asking those who attend the ArtWalk on Friday to wear a face mask, sanitize, and maintain social distancing as delta variant COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the county.
"We are endeavoring to keep ArtWalk going and must put safety protocols in place to continue to do so. Our staff, volunteers, and vendors are required to wear masks, all vendor booths will have hand sanitizer, and the National Guard will hold a vaccination clinic on Lomax Street during ArtWalk Block Parties from 5:30-7:30 PM."
4:45 p.m.- The Corpus Christi - Nueces County Public Health District has scheduled a mass vaccination drive-thru clinic on Friday, August 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The clinic will be held at the old Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial site at 2606 Hospital Boulevard.
4:40 p.m. - Nueces County reports there were 212 new COVID-19 cases Monday, bringing the total in the county to 47,692. Out of this total, 44,025 people have recovered from the virus. Doctors are currently reporting there are 187 people who are hospitalized and 39 of those are being treated in the ICU.
4:15 p.m. - The Corpus Christi - Nueces County Public Health District received notification of five COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the total in the county to 870. The patients were two females and 3 males, with ages ranging from their 30’s to 70’s. The comorbidities of the patients included diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and obesity.
3:55 p.m. - Coastal Bend Food Bank: "After careful consideration and for the overall safety of our staff and visitors, Effective August 3, 2021, The Coastal Bend Food Bank will require ALL Employees, Visitors, Volunteers, and Vendors to wear a mask at our facility regardless of vaccination status."
5:26 a.m. - Jim Hogg county is offering free COVID-19 antigen rapid testing.
7/30 updates:
4:15 p.m. - Nueces County health officials confirmed that two new COVID-19 deaths and 347 new COVID-19 cases on Friday.
The deceased were two females, both in their 50's. The comorbidities of the patients included diabetes, COPD, hypertension, and heart disease.
Their deaths push the county's pandemic-wide fatality total to 865.
The case count pushes the pandemic-wide total to 47,027, of which 43,918 have recovered.
7/29 updates:
4:51 p.m. - Nueces County health officials confirmed that one new COVID-19 related death and 186 new cases were recorded in the county on Thursday.
The deceased patient was a man in his 70's. His comorbidities included lymphoma, COPD, hypertension, and heart disease.
The new fatality extends the county's death total to 863 during the pandemic.
The new COVID-19 cases reported pushes the pandemic-wide case county to 46,680. Of that total, 43,845 have recovered.

5:15 p.m. - Nueces County health officials confirmed that one new COVID-19 related death and 249 new cases were recorded in the county on Wednesday.
The new fatality extends the county's death total to 862 during the pandemic.
The new COVID-19 cases reported pushes the pandemic-wide case county to 46,494. Of that total, 43,783 have recovered.
7/27 updates:
4:43 p.m. - The Nueces County Public Health District announced one new COVID-related fatality and 240 new cases on Tuesday.
The patient was a female in her 90’s. Her comorbidities included hypertension and heart disease. She becomes the 861st coronavirus-related fatality in Nueces County since the pandemic began.
Nueces County's case count jumps to 46,245. Of that total, 43,733 have recovered.
7/26 updates:
4:25 p.m. - The Nueces County Public Health District announced two new COVID-related fatality and 166 new cases on Monday.
The patients were two males, one in his 30’s and the other in his 70’s. The comorbidities of the patients included hypertension and diabetes.
Their fatalities push the pandemic-wide COVID-19 death toll to 860.
Nueces County's case count jumps to 46,005. Of that total, 43,668 have recovered.

4:15 p.m. - The Nueces County Public Health District announced one new COVID-related fatality and 148 new cases on Friday.
The patient was a male in his 60's. He had no comorbidities.
His death marks the 858th COVID-related fatality in Nueces County during the pandemic.
The new reports put the county's case count to 45,555. Of those, 43,543 have recovered
3:50 p.m. - The county health department on Friday announced free testing clinics that will be open through July 30.
Amistad Community Health Clinic on South Brownley has free COVID-19 testing on Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment.
The county health department also has testing on Wednesdays by appointment.
And if you still need a vaccine, the COVID-19 clinic still is set up at La Palmera Mall.
No appointment is necessary.
The clinic is open during regular mall hours.
7/22 updates:
4:49 p.m. - There were no new COVID-19 related deaths and 96 new cases, according to figures released Thursday by the Nueces County Public Health District.
The COVID-19 fatality total for Nueces County remains at 857.
The case county total jumps to 45,407. Of that total, 43,518 have recovered.
7/21 updates:
4:32 p.m. - The Nueces County Public Health District announced one new COVID-related fatality and 300 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.
The patient was a male in his 60s who was suffering from hypertension.
He becomes Nueces County's 857th COVID-19-related fatality during the pandemic.
The new cases push the county's case count to 45,311, with 43,498 recovered.
It marks the highest single-day case total in several months and the second straight with triple-digit case totals.
7/20 updates:.
4:15 p.m. - The Nueces County Public Health District announced one new COVID-related fatality and 148 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.
The deceased was a male in his 60's with comorbidities including hypertension and diabetes.
His death pushes the local fatality toll during the pandemic to 856.
The new cases swell the local case count to 45,011. Of that total, 43,377 have recovered.
12 p.m. - In Tuesday's City Council meeting, Nueces County - Corpus Christi Health Director Annette Rodriguez gave an update on the number of vaccinated individuals who have contracted COVID-19 in Nueces County.
In total, of the 145 cases of vaccinated individuals contracting COVID-19, 16 have been hospitalized and 4 have died.
Rodriguez says the time of infection was between 25 to 54 days of vaccination.
The health district has information on which vaccines the 145 people received before contracting COVID-19. Here are those numbers:
- Moderna - 67
- Pfizer - 51
- J&J - 26
- Unknown - 1
There have been 302,266 vaccines administered in Nueces County, 145,155 of those have been fully vaccinated.

4:40 p.m. - The Nueces County Public Health District announced no new COVID-19 fatalities and 62 new COVID-19 cases on Monday.
The additions push the local case count to 44,801, with 43,346 of those recovering.
The COVID-19 fatality county remains at 855.

4:33 p.m. - Local health officials announced one new COVID-19 related death and 87 new cases in Nueces County on Friday.
It boosts the pandemic-wide case count to 44,756. Of that total, 43,289 have recovered.
The additional death extends the local COVID-19 death toll to 855.
7/15 updates:
4:39 p.m. - No new COVID-19 deaths and 38 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Nueces County on Thursday.
The Nueces County Public Health District said the case count now is 44,669, with 43,249 of those patients have recovered.
The fatality total in Nueces County remains unchanged at 854,
7/14 updates:
4:04 p.m. - Nueces County is reporting three more deaths related to COVID-19.
The Nueces County Public Health District announced the patients were three males ranging in age from their 30's to 50's. The comorbidities of these patients included pneumonia and obesity.
The deaths push the pandemic-wide COVID-19 fatality total in Nueces County to 854.
County officials also said that 58 new COVID-19 cases were reported today. That boosts the pandemic-wide total to 44,631. Of that total, 43,231 have recovered.

4:20 p.m. - Two more notifications of COVID-19-related deaths and 72 new COVID-19 cases were received on Tuesday by the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District.
The deceased patients were two females in their 70’s and 80’s. The comorbidities of these patients include coronary artery disease and congested heart failure.
Their deaths boost the pandemic-wide fatality total in Nueces County to 851.
The new cases push the pandemic-wide local COVID-19 case total to 44,573. Of those, 43,218 have recovered.
7/12 updates:
4:20 p.m. - The Corpus Christi - Nueces County Public Health District reports they have received notification of four COVID-19 related deaths. The patients were two females and two males with ages ranging in their 30’s, 40’s, 60’s and 70’s. Nueces County reports the patients had no comorbidities.
It pushes the pandemic-wide fatality total for Nueces County to 849.
The county also reported 69 new cases, pushing the pandemic-wide total to 44,501. Of that total, 43,202 have recovered.

5:15 p.m. - Nueces County is reporting no COVID-19 deaths and 28 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
The new additions extend the local pandemic-wide totals to 44,382, while the county still has 845 fatalities.
Of the number contracting COVID-19 locally, 43,908 have recovered.

4:42 p.m. - Nueces County is reporting no deaths and 22 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.

4:40 p.m. - Nueces County is reporting no deaths and new cases of COVID-19. The new numbers now push the to total cases in Nueces County to 44,332 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 43,060 reportedly recovered. So far, 845 people have died due to coronavirus.

4:00 p.m. - Nueces County is reporting one death and 27 new cases of COVID-19. The death was a man in his 30's. An additional death was reported on Saturday, a man in his 70's. This brings the total deaths in the county to 845. There are now 44,284 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 43,049 reportedly recovered.
