SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Gov. Greg Abbott visited a San Antonio warehouse today to provide an update on the availability of personal protective equipment here in Texas.
The warehouse is one of 40 across the state that are being used to house the state's supply of PPE..
The governor says we have abundant supplies to continue to provide PPE to schools, hospitals, nursing homes, testing sites and to any operation in the state that needs it.
But he also said the demand for protective gear won't ease up anytime soon.
“There are two coming events that will put an even greater strain on the need for PPE supplies,” Abbott said. “One is the coming opening of schools in the state of Texas. The other as we go down the calendar is the coming flu season.”
Meanwhile, the rate of new COVID cases across the state has started to decline.
But Abbott warned against people not taking precautions.
