CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Eight days after finding the body of 29-year-old Rebecca Anne Maloney in a tool box near Aransas Pass, an arrest has been made in the case.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday, officers from multiple law enforcement agencies, led by US Marshals, raided a home on the 1200 block of Verbena, just off Morgan, in Corpus Christi.

That's where they found 33-year-old Luis Garza-Gonzales and arrested him on a homicide warrant related to Maloney's murder.

He has been turned over to Aransas Pass Police.

Marshals told Action 10 News that Garza Gonzales lived at the home. However, it was just one of several addresses he used.

They also told us that the suspect did not put up a struggle when taken into custody.

Friday night, Aransas Pass Police arrested 41-year-old Jaime Garcia at the Rahi Motel on Business Highway 35 in Aransas Pass.

That's the location police confirmed to us that Maloney, a mother of three, was killed by a gunshot to her head sometime before Jan. 21, when her body was found in a discarded tool box not far from the crime scene.

Police also said Garcia was arrested on possession and weapons charges, unrelated to Maloney's case.

Police are still investigating how Maloney's body wound up in the tool box, and who put it there.

We'll hear from a neighbor who told us he used to pray for Luis Garza-Gonzales later today.
