JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Two Mississippi teens are being charged with sexually abusing a 2-year-old boy.
Jackson police spokesman Sgt. Roderick Holmes says Monday that police have filed adult charges against a 15-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy.
Holmes says the investigation began last Thursday when officers were called to a hospital about injuries to the young boy. Officers were told the injuries suggested the child had been sexually assaulted.
Police say they the 15-year-old girl is charged with child abuse and the 14-year-old boy is charged with child abuse and sexual battery. The teenagers had been caring for the young child.
The girl is jailed on $250,000 bail, while the teenage boy is jailed on $300,000 bail. It isn’t immediately clear if either has a lawyer to speak for them.
