We got a tip about a big pothole off South Padre Island Drive.
And big is probably an understatement.
It looks more like an impact crater to us.
It’s so big, this van had trouble navigating around it.
It’s on Jean Street, just off the SPID access road between Weber and Everhart.
There’s a Wells Fargo ATM there. Customers have to do some defensive driving as they exit.
“A car like mine, pretty low, pretty small, there’s no way I’d be able to go through it,” driver Rick Benavidez said. “So I usually have to loop around.”
Benavidez says the pothole – like many across Corpus Christi – just keeps growing.
“It used to be a little bit smaller, where you could kind of avoid it somewhat,” he said. “But yeah, it has grown. I think it’s just due to the weather.”
The traffic engineering department says it’s aware of this monster and it’s on its maintenance list.
But there’s no word on when it will be fixed.
