The 28th Annual Buc Days Pro Rodeo kicked off tonight at the American Bank Center.  More than 500 competitors in several events are vying for more than $300,000 in prize money.

The Bareback Riding competition took place tonight in the arena.  These cowboys hung on for dear life while riding with no saddle.  And as frightening as the sport looks to most, these fearless riders say they enjoy it.

“It’s more like being in a car wreck, every time you get on, you just have to really enjoy the pain. It’s incredible, I would say try it out it’s like no other,” said Travis Chapman/ Bareback Rider, “I just hope to come out on top but mainly do the best I can and hold my head high knowing I did the best. The atmosphere of it, it’s big, a lot of great people so looking forward to it.”

Unfortunately, Travis didn’t stay on long in his first try.  Tonight Lee Brice performed after the competitions.  Concerts are planned for every night of the rodeo.  The Buc Days Pro Rodeo continues tomorrow night and runs through Sunday.
