Tony Romo has some fans in the college basketball coaching fraternity.
After answering a question from CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson about his team’s first-half play against Duke in his Elite Eight game, Virginia Tech coach Buzz Williams then lobbied for the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback to join the broadcast team for CBS’ college basketball coverage with Jim Nantz and Grant Hill.

“Is Nantz calling the game?” “He is.” “Can we sub Tony Romo in for Coach so it’s like NFL on Sunday with you, Nantz and Romo? Get Coach out of there!”
The veteran Raftery took the joke well, saying “I’m out again!”
And after a break, Nantz announced that Romo wouldn’t be able to make it to the broadcast. It turns out he’s playing golf in the Dominican Republic during some down time.
It provided a setup for a Raftery retort.

Rumors are linking Williams as the leading candidate for the vacant Texas A&M coaching position. At least that would get him a little closer to Romo if he ever wanted him to show up in College Station if he ever took the Aggies’ gig.
