Ayers Street store murder suspect arrested in Louisiana

A local man who was wanted for allegedly shooting and killing a man at a convenience store parking lot is now in custody.

Corpus Christi Police confirmed today that 39-year-old Derek Parra surrendered to the U.S. Marshalls in Louisiana.

The warrant was issued following a murder on Saturday, March 2, 2019, in the 4700 block of Ayers Street.

Police say the victim, 27-year-old Joe Andrew Trevino of Austin, had been involved in an argument with Parra and was about to drive away when he was shot in the head.

Parra is currently in the extradition process to Corpus Christi.
