Dallas tollway pokes fun at Patriots and Rams

Posted

The Super Bowl won’t be including the Dallas Cowboys this season.

The Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots are providing humor for operators of the North Texas Tollway Association (NTTA) even as the Cowboys’ hopes have been dashed — again — this season.

Four days out from the big game and the NTTA is posting Super Bowl-themed messages on some of its digital signs.

A sign along the President George Bush Turnpike in far North Dallas Wednesday morning skewered the Patriots and their celebrated “Deflategate” controversy from 2015 — “Tire flat as a Patriots football dial #999.”

An NTTA spokesman told Dallas CBS affiliate KTVT that their organization is “all about safety.” Their goal is to grab drivers’ attention and alert them to the fact they “can summon free roadside assistance simply by dialing #999.”

The Patriots aren’t alone. The spokesman told the station the Rams will be skewered later today, playing on the team’s tainted overtime victory over New Orleans in the NFC title game.

That sign will read — “A Ram interfere with your car? Dial #999.”

These reminders will continue until the game on Sunday.
