A Corpus Christi native who designs and creates makeup bags has landed a spot on Shark Tank.

The show gives entrepreneurs a chance to present their products to the sharks, self-made, multi-millionaires and billionaires, to potentially secure lucrative business deals.

Meredith Jurica owns Makeup Junkie Bags, a business she started right in her kitchen.

The self-proclaimed makeup junkie says the idea came after she could not find a practical makeup bag.

Her designs are water-resistant, lay flat and are spacious.

“This one holds 20 cosmetics,” says Jurica.

Jurica says the bags became an instant hit among her friends, who began requesting them for their friends.

“It became where I was making them frequently every week, every few days,” says Jurica.

So she decided to launch a Facebook page, Makeup Junkie Bag.

“In the first month, I got over 700-orders just through Facebook messenger,” says Jurica.

The orders kept coming in, selling more than 50,000 Makeup Junkie Bags her first year.

“We cleared over a million dollars in sales, half of that just from making them out of my home,” says Jurica.

Two years later, her business keeps growing, selling out online and in more than 2,000 boutiques nationwide.

She says being a business owner, still feels like a dream.

“It hasn’t really sunk in what’s happened to our little company, how much it’s grown, or that I even have a company,” says Jurica.
