Free entrance for Texas state parks on Sunday honoring Veterans Day

Posted

In honor of both active and retired military, daily entrance fees at Texas State Parks will be waived on Sunday for all park visitors.

“The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Texas State Parks are very proud of the men and women that serve our country in the military,” said Rodney Franklin, interim director of Texas State Parks. “Welcoming visitors to state parks for free on Sunday, is our way of saying thanks to those who have served in the military and their families. We invite all Texans to connect with the outdoors and make state parks a part of their Veterans Day weekend.”

Parks will be hosting guided hikes, bird walks and other programs throughout the day. Camping and special activity fees will still apply.

The Battleship Texas State Historic Site is hosting a commemorative event of Armistice Day from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Celebrating the 100-year anniversary of Armistice Day, the event will include a 21-gun salute, wreath laying and self-guided tours to honor the end of World War I in 1918.
