U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Sector Special Operations Detachment deployed to Atlanta to help stage for the impending arrival of Hurricane Florence.
The group left Thursday, joined by personnel from multiple Department of Homeland Security components.
They are making preparations to respond to areas affected by the massive storm system throughout the South.
“Our deployed agents will focus on rescue efforts and assist in the federal response to Hurricane Florence and her aftermath,” Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla Jr. said. “We will remain in the affected areas as long as needed.”
