More than a year later there are still many stories of people struggling to recover from Hurricane Harvey.
Many of them hired the same contractor to repair their home or business.
Tonight on the Troubleshooters another complaint about one of those contractors.
Frank Harrison’s story is that he hired Catskill Restoration in December, but that they didn’t even show up at his house to work till May.
He sent us pictures that he says show the shoddy work done by Catskill.
“You can see they didn’t know what they were doing.”
The work was so shoddy Harrison claims “I’ve got a house right now that technically the roof is not insured. It won’t pass Windstorm.”
Harrison says Catskill was going to put a new roof and fence at his house for approximately $13,000.00.
He’s already paid $4000.00.
They never put up a new fence.
Harrison told us he had to pay somebody else to do that.
This Catskill company promotional material reads in part…’it is our mission to bring integrity, honesty, and quality workmanship to the roofing industry…’
We first heard about Catskill last week, when Kristy Jackson told us about her experience with them.
“I saw your story on that lady and my heart is broken because I know exactly what she’s going thru. I know exactly what’s happening with the people over in Rockport. It breaks my heart, but then I’m angry. That’s what I am.”
Harrison showed us text messages he says he’s received from the Catskill sales rep he signed the contract with.
“I no longer work for the company, and all I can do is relay messages.”
Harrison has contacted an attorney, and that attorney has contacted the attorney general’s office. Harrison says he’s doing this not so much for himself but for others.
“Them? That’s criminal. I’m sorry it is. You’ve got a person that can’t move back into their home after almost a year.”
We called Catskill tonight and left a message.
Since it’s a holiday, we’ll try again tomorrow.
