The Corpus Christi Army Depot held a dedication ceremony for a ship model that represents an important part of CCAD’s history. It’s a model of a World War II era ship known as the USS Albemarle.
She was a sea plane tender until she was decommissioned in 1960. In 1965, she was recommissioned as the USN Corpus Christi Bay.
During the Vietnam War, she served as a helicopter maintenance ship. The widow of Army Staff Sergeant Donald Wollek had this ship made nearly twenty years ago in honor of his service on the ship.

"So I contacted a company through the internet , I went through bunches of them. 12 or 13, till I finally found one that would make the ship for us," said Suzie Wollek.
When her husband passed away Mrs. Wollek decided to donate the model ship to the Corpus Christi Army Depot.  It’s now on display there along with some other artifacts from the ship.
