Outcry in the Barrio gets men who want to turn their life around. You can see men sleeping in the dorm in the middle of the day, it’s not because they are tired, it’s because of drug addiction and they are having withdrawals…
"I can attest that we’ve had the worst of the worst,, anything from the worst heroin addicts, the worst methamphetamine addicts to gang members and I’m talking about that had weight and they decided they needed to change," said Outcry in the Barrio Director Anthony Torres.
But there is one demon that Outcry in the Barrio couldn’t overcome.
Bed bugs.
They were able to exterminate all of them.
But in the process, they had to throw many mattresses away and now some guys have no place to sleep.
Outcry in the Barrio has received donations from some great donors.. but they need more.
"We are still $7,000 short for meeting the full price of what it is going to cost to have 30 bunk beds with mattresses and 4 individual beds," said Torres.
