The YWteen is a developmental program that enhances the positive development of girls in the 5th and 6th grade.

"It’s a really positive program to help girls stay on a  positive track," said YWCA President and CEO Nancy Wesson-Dodd.

The aim is to provide services to the girls to make them productive, successful citizens.

To do that, mentors come in and teach them a wide variety of life skills and the girls do various arts and crafts.

The girls drew self portraits and then listed 5 important things they would like to have in their life.

We begin with Jolie, who drew a self portrait and the word knowledge.

"We were doing 5 words and my most important word was knowledge because I think knowledge is everything," said Jolie.

Amanda’s five words are: family respect humor friendliness and beauty.

Pretty impressive so far!

Cheyenne’s five words are,  freedom strength creativity sacrifice and beauty.

What does your self portrait look like? and what are your 5 words?

WHAT DOES YOUR SELF PORTRAIT LOOK LIKE? AND WHAT ARE YOUR 5 WORDS?
