Trustee escapes from Nueces County Jail

Posted

A jail trustee is facing felony charges after escaping from custody this morning.

Nueces Co. Sheriff’s Department Assistant Chief Deputy Martin Arnold said 30-year-old Alicia Dent was cleaning offices at the Sheriff’s Department as a trustee but was outside of the secured perimeter at the jail when she decided to run.

Local law enforcement, including Corpus Christi police and Nueces County deputies, went on an intense but brief manhunt for the woman. Two parking enforcement officers found her short time later in a lot on Waco Street.

Dent was being held on a misdemeanor theft charge and is now facing 3rd degree felony charges for the escape. She had been at the Nueces County Jail for six days before her escape.

If convicted on the escape charges, she could face 2-10 years in prison, according to Assistant Chief Deputy Arnold.
