Action 10 News has obtained a copy of the arrest report for former Judge Guy Williams’ most recent run in with the law, detailing Williams’ resistance of arrest when being taken to jail for public intoxication, including kicking at officers and being carried halfway to the unit, according to the report.
It was May 29 when Williams was arrested for public intoxication after being involved in a crash on Padre Island.
The arrest report states that officers responded to a single vehicle accident in the area of Whitecap Blvd. and SPID at 11:23 p.m. on May 29. When officers arrived, they saw a vehicle that had hit several trees, the report says. Officers saw Guy Williams, who they recognized and later found to be a passenger in the accident, standing beside a passenger door. When asked if he was involved in the accident Williams responded with "What do you think? Of course," according to the report.
Medics, along with Captain Greg Carlucci with the Corpus Christi Fire Department, then attempted to check Williams out at the scene to make sure he did not need medical attention, the report states. Williams then "swung his arm and pushed the Capt. Carlucci in the back away from him," the report says.
The arresting officer wrote in the report that he could smell a "very strong odor of alcohol emitting from Mr. Williams breath and person." The officer continued that Williams’ "atttitude was very hostile toward anyone asking him questions and toward medical staff" and believed him to be a "danger to himself and others." The officer, at that time, arrested Williams for public intoxication.
Williams was then carried halfway to the officer’s patrol car because he "did not want to walk," according to the report. The officer wrote that Williams began to walk when they were halfway to the unit, but began to twist and spin to try to break the grasp officers had on him. When officers tried to help Williams into a police unit, Williams stuck his foot on the steprail of the unit, preventing officers from helping him inside, the report states.
Senior Officer Razzo with the Corpus Christi Police Department asked Williams to turn around and get into the unit but Williams kicked at the officer to try and keep him away, according to the report. An officer eventually went to the other side of the unit and climbed into the backseat to pull Williams by the arm into the unit, the report states. When the officer had Williams halfway in the unit, the officer wrote that Williams then pushed off of the door and pinned the officer against the side of the door and the backseat with his body. The officer then grabbed Williams by the head and pushed him away so the officer could get out of the unit and close the door.
Williams was eventually taken to the City Detention Center and charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. He was released before 6 a.m. the next morning on a $1,000 bail. Read the arrest report in full below.
In March, Williams was on trial accused of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a couple said he previously ran them off of the road and pointed a gun at them. Williams was acquitted on one count and a mistrial was declared on the other.
