Wednesdays are for the water

Posted

A local group known as CCMORF sets sail every Wednesday from the Corpus Christi Marina.

MORF stands for Midget Ocean Racing Fleet and this friendly race is open for any sailboat.

"It gets kind of competitive. We get competitive with each other out there. And we get some close calls as we cross paths out there. It keeps it interesting and fun. We have a great time out there," captain of Huntress Too, Chuck Giffin told KZTV.

Crews launch at about 5:45 and the race begins at 6:05pm. The course is often changed to keep the route interesting.

The boat Action 10 sailed on, Huntress Too won sailboat of the year in 2017. Within the group are some very seasoned sailors who love to have fun just as much as they love to compete.

"More people should try it. I mean we live in Corpus Christi, Texas on the Gulf Coast on one of the most amazing sailing bays in the whole country and not more people taking advantage of it is crazy," said sailing enthusiast, Mick Boudreau.
