The Texas Rangers are investigating a fatal shooting yesterday in Mathis.
According to family members, 37-year-old Marty Sendejo was shot at his home by a police officer.
Mathis Police are not commenting on the shooting, but did confirm that they went to Sendejo’s home, along the 100 Block of 7th Street, to investigate a report of a burglary.
Family members say Sendejo, who is mentally ill, had a knife, and was shot by officers when he refused to put it down.
Mathis Police has referred all questions to the Texas Rangers.
