Several homeowners are still waiting for roofing contractor to start their job

Posted

Leota Gaines.  John and Elizabeth Bess.  Scott Schwartz.

None of them know each other, but they all share one thing in common…a roofing contractor named Skylar Buras.

They all claim he took their money and wont return any of their calls.

"Seemed like nice guys at the time seemed like they told me what I wanted to hear and I handed over my check to them in good faith that they were going to put a roof on my house..that was at the beginning of October last year. 8 months later, no communication email phone calls aren’t being returned I’m just sitting out here in the dark wondering what’s going on," said Scott Schwartz

Schwartz’s deposit was $5200.

And what about Leota Gaines, she’s 86 years old, handicapped, wants to sell the house,  but cant. Because of the roof. She gave Buras Construction  over 8000 dollars.

"What am I going to do? I’m left twiddling my thumbs…a nervous wreck," said Gaines.

John and Elizabeth Bess are in the same boat.

I asked them, "eight months ago you gave this we gave him a check for 3k and what happened?" " Nothing. Now they wont even respond to text, emails, phone calls or anything. And all we have are empty promises of any roof," the Bess’ responded.

So when will any of these nice folks roofs be complete? or money returned?

I called Skylar Buras, he answered the phone and agreed to be recorded.

"Were not running away from anything. We’re not throwing these by the wayside and telling people to go fend for themselves. A plan is in place, the contracts are being transferred over to other companies  to fulfill them. To collect final payment and to get them under new warranties. Hopefully most of them before hurricane season starts again," said Buras.
