Police need the public’s help catching a crook accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of necklaces.

It’s the Crime of the Week.

It happened last week at a jewelry store located in the 5400 block of South Padre Island Drive.

Recently released surveillance video shows a man ask an employee to see a gold chain that was inside a jewelry binder.

While the clerk was not looking, the crook grabbed the blinder and ran out of the store.

Police say there 31 necklaces inside the binder, worth around $10,000.

The man was described as a male in his 20’s.  

He was last seen wearing a gray polo sweatshirt and black jeans.
