Dozens of common prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs could cause memory problems.
The drugs belong to the class of medications called anticholinergics.
They treat conditions ranging from the common cold to bladder conditions and even depression.
Researchers at the University of California San Diego found people taking at least one of those drugs were 47 percent more likely to develop memory or mental impairment.
The people in the study were an average of 74 years old with no memory problems
Researchers found many of those who experienced problems were also taking more than the recommended dose.
