Enter Your Pet To Be The Next Cadbury Bunny

and last updated

If you were around in the ’90s, you’re likely familiar with Cadbury’s Clucking Bunny “tryout” commercial where various animals (including a pig, lion, llama and more) wear bunny ears and “audition” to be the star of Cadbury’s next ad.

It’s adorable and funny and when it graces your TV set, it means Easter is right around the corner.

Now, Cadbury is inviting actual pets to apply for the role by donning some ears and doing their best impersonations of the Cadbury bunny. To get your pet an audition, just head to Cadbury’s website now through Feb. 24 to submit a photo of your pet wearing bunny ears, and describe why they should be on TV.

A panel of judges will then pick 20 semifinalists who will submit videos of their pets wearing bunny ears for up to (and no longer than) three minutes. The videos must include at least 15 seconds of the pets sitting still and facing the camera.

The ears cannot be computer-generated, so your pet will have to keep a physical headband on.

Cadbury and famous pet influencer JiffPom will select 10 finalists from the video submissions and announce them on March 4. From the finalists, America will determine the ultimate winner by voting from March 4-18.

The winning pet must be able to perform for the camera while wearing the ears and you and your pet must be available to film the commercial between March 19-23, 2020. If your pet is unable to perform, or you’re unable to film during those dates, the semifinalist with the next highest score will be selected.

The winning pet will receive the coveted spot in the iconic Cadbury Clucking Bunny Commercial and a check in the amount of $5,000. Cadbury will also be donating $10,000 to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

This is the second year Cadbury is holding the contest to look for a new “Bunny.” Last year, an adorable English bulldog named Henri took the crown — or ears, rather.

While Henri was no stranger to fame and already had his own popular Instagram account featuring him in all sorts of outfits, your pet does not have to be “famous” to qualify.
