Missing live music during social distancing? On Sunday, March 29, Elton John will host an hour-long concert featuring multiple artists performing from their living rooms. The iHeart Living Room Concert for America will be broadcast commercial-free on Fox at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT — and on all the TV network’s linear and digital platforms. You can also hear the show on iHeartRadio through its stations nationwide and its app.

Billie Eilish, Mariah Carey, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Alicia Keys, the Backstreet Boys and Tim McGraw will all join in from their homes as part of this special event. The artists’ performances will be filmed on their personal equipment, such as cell phones, to ensure everyone’s health and safety.

iHeartRadio posted the announcement of the concert on Instagram. The new event replaced its iHeartRadio Music Awards that was supposed to air in that time slot; that live event has been canceled in the wake of measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

“This Sunday night, we are paying tribute to the front line health professionals & local heroes who are helping to fight the spread of COVID-19 with a one-of-a-kind concert event,” the post reads.

The event encourages people to support the nonprofits Feeding America and First Responders Children’s Foundation.

Feeding America is the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States. Through food banks, pantries and meal programs, the organization serves more than 40 million people, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors.

First Responders Children’s Foundation provides financial support to both children who have lost a parent in the line of duty and families that are experiencing financial hardship because of tragic circumstances.

“With this deadly virus, again, all the first responders are rushing in to help in all of the states,” First Responders Children’s Foundation president Jill Crane said during an appearance on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom. “And, they are at risk. They’re at risk of getting the virus. They’re at risk of being killed by it or possibly having to be quarantined away from their family.”

She said she was grateful for the help of the “amazing talented artists” who are accepting lower production values to showcase their talent and show support for the first responder community.

She added, “All of these people, these health workers, the people on the front lines, the nurses, the doctors, the EMTs, the EMS – they are on the front lines of this and we must support them getting the safety gear that they need.”
