Suspect identified, arrested in connection with Monday's shooting at Staples and Ohio

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY - 2:45 p.m.

CCPD detectives have identified and secured a warrant for 19-year-old Jerry Lopez Jr., the suspect in the Domino's shooting.

According to the CCPD Blotter, on Tuesday, Feb. 11, around 5 p.m. The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force Officers tracked Lopez to the 3300 block of Alameda Dr. and took him into custody without incident.

Lopez was interviewed at the main police station for interviewing and then taken to the City Detention Center for booking.

UPDATE: TUESDAY - 10:00 a.m.

Police were sent to Staples and Ohio Avenue at 7:58 p.m. Monday night, hearing that someone had been shot. When police arrived, they found a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound in the parking and gave him medical attention until the medics arrived. The man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to officers, the suspect and the victim met in the parking lot of the restaurant and had a conversation; the suspect opened fire, hitting the man several times. Police say the two knew each other, and this was not a random act of violence.

No suspect details have been released.
