UPDATE: Local Tejano radio station KSAB announced on its Facebook page Wednesday that longtime DJ Dan Pena died.
Pena, an Alice native, passed away earlier this week.
KSAB Tejano Gold remembered the legacy of the man who called their airwaves home for 25 years. Pena not only had the top radio show on KSAB, but he was also the station's program director.
Broadcasting was in his blood.
His father was a Hall of Fame broadcaster as well.
KSAB Assistant Program Director Danny Perez says people gravitated towards Pena because he was kind and funny, too. And he loved what he did.
"KSAB was his passion," Perez said. "Tejano music was his passion. And that's what he lived for."
We're told Pena's only regret was that he couldn't sign off the radio one last time.
Perez, Rex on C-101, and Big Frank on K99 have all payed tribute to the radio legend on-air. Big Frank also created a video tribute that you can watch below.
