CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Solid Waste Services would like to remind customers to review the 2018 Customer Guide for details on brush and bulky item collection.

Following Hurricane Harvey, the City conducted a one-time cleanup effort to clear the area of storm debris. During the recovery, residents were allowed to set-out items not normally collected during curbside pickup, including fencing, construction materials and concrete.

When normal collection resumed in January, Solid Waste Services began enforcing the collection guidelines, including requiring residents to place materials curbside during their scheduled set out dates.

The following household construction materials are not collected curbside and must be taken to the J.C. Elliott Collection Center for no fee.

  • Concrete

  • Rocks

  • Dirt

  • Masonry

  • Sand

  • Bricks

  • Roofing material

  • Household chemicals

  • Fencing

  • Lumber

  • Sheet Rock

  • Flooring

  • Cabinets

Items eligible for bulky collection include:

  • Indoor/outdoor furniture

  • Mattresses
  • Box springs
  • Carpet

  • Metal or plastic swing sets

  • Plastic swimming pools

  • Large toys

  • Bicycles

  • Aquariums

  • Large household appliances

  • Up to 4 tires, 20 inches in diameter or smaller

Brush and bulky materials are collected along the same curb where you place your trash and recycling carts. Items may not be placed for collection on other properties or on properties not paying for Solid Waste collection services.

Curbside items should be separated into individual piles by group: metal, non-metal and brush. Improper set-out could result in a fee and/or a fine.

If you have excess material outside your scheduled pickup dates, residents may:

  • Drop off at J.C. Elliott Collection Center.

Located at Hwy 286 and Ayers Street, open Monday through Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm

  • Participate with at least one other neighbor in the free Litter Critter Program once a year.

  • Schedule individual solid waste pickups for a fee.
