A 43-year-old Corpus Christi woman was killed Saturday morning in a one-car crash on U.S. Highway 77, about 16 miles south of Armstrong in Kenedy County.
Magdalena Escobedo, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-150 truck and two other passengers were transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen with non-life threatening injuries.
Sgt. Nathan Brandley, a spokesman with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said that preliminary investigations revealed the vehicle experienced a blowout on the passenger’s rear tire, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn multiple times before striking a tree.
Department of Public Safety troopers are continuing their investigation of the accident.
