CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An 18-wheeler caught on fire while traveling down US Route 77 near Bishop. DPS troopers shutdown a portion of US-77 lanes going southbound at County Road 10. Drivers were diverted away from the area while crews worked to move the big rig.
DPS says the driver from the state of New York was in his 18-wheeler heading south on US-77 when he noticed his empty cab was on fire. He tried to pull over but jack-knifed. Luckily, he and his wife who was a passenger were not injured.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
